Barbara Loken
Barbara is a storyteller. Her still-life work teaches the lessons of everyday life and worldly travel tales. She makes the mundane have meaning. Barbara draws inspiration from artists such as Alan Magee, Georgia O’Keeffe and Italian artist Emilio Vedova. Barbara has traveled extensively and has carried home an extraordinary collection of art findings and life learnings. In this collection, she has a great love for pattern and movement which is evident in her richly layered and manipulated watercolor paintings. She brings to the collective a passion for life. She says, “Places, people and life changes, and often suggests a change in media for me, but the need to tell stories remains the same.”
Barbara lives in Farmingdale with her husband, Neal. She and Neil have owned and operated their own business Loken Pottery for almost thirty years.
